“Belt and Road Cataract Blindness Eradication Campaign” is spearheaded by the Centre with multifaceted support from The Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness, Hong Kong New Home Association, Government of Kwangsi Chuang Autonomous Region, Hong Kong doctors and Hong Kong Business Association of Cambodia. Aimed at eliminating the backlog of cataract blindness in Kampong Cham, the Campaign will provide free cataract surgeries for near 8,000 Cambodians in the province to save their sight.
An agreement for this campaign has been signed with the Department of Health of Cambodia. Implemented by The Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness, two Mobile Eye Treatment Centres (METC) and two ambulances will be provided by Hong Kong New Home Association and Hong Kong Business Association of Cambodia respectively, while The Government of Kwangsi Chuang Autonomous Region will send medical volunteers to Kampong Cham to perform cataract surgeries for the locals suffering from cataract blindness.
